EMERGENCY PROCEDURES at venues

Junior committee has determining that should a game be stopped due to an emergency alarm all players, officials and spectators must leave the courts and stadium in accordance with the emergency evacuation procedures. If that delay exceeds 30 minutes the game will be cancelled. If the next game is delayed by 30 minutes it will also be cancelled. This will ensure that everyone know that they only have to wait 30 minutes from the point of evacuation or a delayed start to know if the game is going to start. If someone is uncertain as to whether they will start or be cancelled they should speak to the Doorkeeper or the Referees Supervisor who will be able to advise.

From an operational perspective the doorkeepers are the Fire Wardens so will be tasked with implementing the evacuation procedures. As SBC has a drop down door in the middle of the building which may result in the warden being isolated on the wrong side of the door the referees will be instructed to stop the games and ask everyone to evacuate by the emergency exit and move to the assembly point. To minimise any confusion over people forgetting or being unaware of the process a set of emergency instructions with a site map will be located on each score bench.
The doorkeepers will be responsible for liaising with emergency services and for ensuring that people have left the building including toilets and meeting rooms, etc.
I would ask clubs to advise their team managers and include an instruction in their team manager's kits that they must follow the direction of the referees and fire wardens to ensure we minimise the risk to any individuals.

Essentially this will be the identical procedure for the Boronia courts.

The heat policy will of course be in play on all courts. The temperature reading is conducted on courts 2 and 5 at Boronia and courts 1 and 5 at the SBC, What might have confused some people is that the temperature can be read at the door at Boronia and in the meeting room at the SBC without the need to go on court. Temperature sensors are located on the front of the score benches that takes the reading for the 3 courts located on each side. The sensors relays the temperature, in real time to the display unit which is accessed by the doorkeepers. The Doorkeepers check the unit for 2 separate temperatures prior to the start of each game.

Once the temperature reaches, and exceeds the 32 degrees Celsius, the Referee Supervisor is informed and the Heat Policy of an additional 2 timeouts per half is implemented. The temperatures and the time is then recorded on the KBI Temperature Record Sheet for each session.
If the temperature then goes below the 32 degrees Celsius, the Heat Policy is no longer implemented. If the temperature reaches the 36 degrees Celsius, as per Heat Policy guidelines, games on those courts will be cancelled.
